Member: Help! My doctor just started me on a new medication and now I have to remember to take medications at five different times during the day. How can I manage this? —Desmond, Rochester
Pharmacist: Fitting medications into your day can be a challenge, especially when you start new ones, but there are a few things that can make it easier for you to get into a routine. First, using a pillbox or a pharmacy like PillPack that packages your prescriptions can really help you take your medications when you need to. If you want to use a pillbox but can’t find one that works for you, or if you need help filling it, talk to your pharmacist. They can help you find and fi ll the appropriate pillbox. If you are having difficulty remembering to take your medications at different times, setting an alarm can be helpful. If you have a smartphone, you can set alarms on your phone and have them go o every time you need to take a prescription. Or, if you like using apps on your phone, there are several great medication reminder apps available. You can fi nd one that works for you by searching “medication reminders” in your phone’s app store. Finally, your doctor or pharmacist are always great resources to ask about your medications. Ask either of them if there is a way to make your medications easier to take. I promise you, your doctor and pharmacist want to know what questions you have about your medications. And when they know more about what questions you have, they can provide you with better care!
